'Twas the Night Before v17 Release

A playful, holiday-style ode to the excitement surrounding the Umbraco v17 release, this poem follows a developer’s sleepless anticipation as they await new features, celebrate major technical improvements—from a redesigned back office to modernized front-end tooling—and applaud the entire Umbraco community. Blending humor, gratitude, and tech enthusiasm, it captures the collective joy of Release Day.

'Twas the night before launch in the Umbracoverse,
Whence I anxiously waited to download v17 first.
The features were all coded with the utmost care,
In hopes the new CMS could soon be shared!

The packages were nestled all snug in their places,
While the dreaming dev team had smiles on their faces.
And Filip was excited, but calm and ready -
For he knew his team was solid and steady.

'Lo on my phone there shone a notification,
With beta complete, could there be new information?
Away to my standing desk I ran like a fox;
Logging on quickly and pulling up my inbox.

An urgent email whose subject concerned me!!!!
Sent from a unicorn and one white bunny.
Was the release cancelled?! Was this v5 anew?
No - just one last reminder of good things abrew.

With the crisis averted and dawn growing near,
Sleep I could not, too nervous with fear (of missing out).
Instead giving new features one last perusal;
Eagerly awaiting their final approval.

From front end to back end, so many advancements,
With a new framework for backoffice enhancements.
Umbraco and dot net now are aligned,
And the friendly backoffice has been redesigned.

Ding dong, Angular JS in Umbraco is dead!
Use JavaScript, TypeScript, Vite and Lit instead!
For those websites which cater to a polyglot,
Editors can now localize content by block.

For developers, there are lots of new toys
Enabling extension, bringing coding joy:
Management, context, extension API;
Ingredients in the extensibility pie!

At long last, the backoffice can be load balanced,
While memory caching is now more advanced.
From hybrid cache to repository caching,
These features help keep your website from crashing

Date lovers rejoice, the standard is now UTC!
For content editors there's a tip tap RTE!
With too many fantastic improvements to name,
All I can do is emphatically proclaim:

Tak devs, tak QA, tak documenters and marketing!
Tak sales, tak support, tak PMs and accounting!
From the tech team to the suits, HQ'ers one and all,
Super tak, super tak, super tak to you all!

As the sun starts to rise, my eyes they grow weary
While expectations grow like a select * query.
To my fellow umbracians I keenly bid -
Happy Release Day to all and high five, you rock!
